Robert Delaunay (April 12, 1885 - October 25, 1941), originally from France, co-founded the Orphism art movement along with other artists including his wife, Sonia Delaunay. His work was heavily influenced by bold color and tone, making his pieces stand out from the Cubism movement that was sweeping with popularity at the time.Delaunay was quoted for saying: "This happened in 1912. Cubism was in full force. I made paintings that seemed like prisms compared to the Cubism my fellow artists were producing. I was the heretic of Cubism. I had great arguments with my comrades who banned color from their palette, depriving it of all elemental mobility. I was accused of returning to Impressionism, of making decorative paintings, etc.… I felt I had almost reached my goal."
The Paris-born artist is famous for his mosaic-like cubes and stylized, symbolic paintings. Many of his works are praised for their ability to render spectral light in a style that became fundamental to Neo-Impressionism. Vigorous, bold, and contrasting in the use of geometric solids and divisionist space, our hand-painted Robert Delaunay oil painting replicas will wow you. Abstraction, bright colors, and Fauvism-influenced contrasts present in each of Delauney's renditions make every one of his paintings the perfect sophisticated talking piece for any carefully designed room.
